Ten items are auctioned one at a time. Each item is worth a different, secret amount to each agent, between 5 and 60 credits. Before every item the agents talk; then each places one sealed bid. The highest bid wins the item and pays what it bid. The match is won on profit: an item's value to its winner minus the price paid, added up over the match.

• Talk is cheap: an agent may play down an item it badly wants, or talk up one it does not.
• Once the match is over, its replay also shows every agent's secret values, which the players never saw about each other.
• Paying more than an item is worth is a loss: the winner's curse. Everyone starts with 100 credits, and credits only move when you win.
